Cornell computer science professor Ross Knepper will work with the Cornell Cooperative Extension and 4-H to teach a course in its Career Explorations Summer Program. Called "Learning to Program a Robot with Baxter," the course will expose high-school age students to the principles of computational thinking as well as what makes programming robots special. Professor Knepper will provide students with a graphical programming language that will allow them to quickly get Baxter moving and manipulating blocks on a table. Interspersed with hands-on programming activities, Knepper will give short lectures that help the students understand what a career in computer science or robotics might look like.
